EXHIBITION “Counter-Couture: Fashioning Identity in the American Counterculture”

Michael Cepress premiered his exhibition “Counter-Couture: Fashioning Identity in the American Counter-Culture” at the Bellevue Arts Museum in Fall 2015.  The exhibition will travel to New York City and be shown at the Museum of Arts and Design March-August 2017.

This exhibition presents over a decade of Cepress’ research into the fashion and style of the American counterculture of the 1960s and 1970s.  Showing over 125 pieces of authentic artist-made wearable art and fashion design from the era, Cepress delves into the riches stories of the period as told by the clothes these revolutionary makers and thinkers were wearing.
